type='text'>

Jeremiah Lo

May 05’: Kaleidoscope Sessions. Just through the Lincoln Tunnel
into Union City, New Jersey. Thanks to Sean we met engineer/owner Randy Crafton who was super cool. We recorded 5 songs live, in one evening!
(GOODNIGHT/SLEEPTIGHT, LITTLE THINGS, ANYTHING WE WANTED,
SIDE BY SIDE, BE MY FRIEND). Patrick was on the fretless and Dave played both drums and tabla! I played good ol’ J-45.

June 05’: Went out to the Kauai Music Festival for the 2nd year in a row and had an amazing experience. It was a great pleasure to spend time with friends I made at the 1st
KMF festival. Brett Alan Rouse, a truly gifted songwriter who lives on Kauai , is air apparent to the Jimmy Buffet vibe. “Who put the Mango in the Mango Tree….” , “Take me Down, Take me Down in the Back of a Truck, to Hanalei Bay!”. Tom Kilroy, a songwriter with amazing insights, who also lives on Kauai, stayed up to the crack of dawn on several evenings tirelessly discussing the muse of song. Woody Garrison, a intro-spective writer from Georgia with an encyclopedic knowledge of music, was part of the late night crew . Dawn Jewell, a Sarah Mclaughlin genresque musician always found a way to provide a unique perspective on many of our discussions on what makes a song great..
Hanging out and gleaming tidbits of “how they do it” from famous songwriters such as country’s Hugh Prestwood (Trisha Yearwood, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor, Collin Raye) pop writers Steven Jenkins(Third Eye Blind), Vanessa Carlton(“Ordinary Day”), Brad Arnold (3 Doors Down) Frank Myers ( “I Swear”, “I’m Already There”, John Cruz (“Island Style”, Acoustic Soul), Jeff Cohen ( “Crazy for This Girl”, “Truth About Romeo”, Big and Rich) .Butch Walker( Avril Lavine)
Especially cool publisher John Titta out of NYC provided a well received message that
He believes in great songs not great looks!

The most significant happening for me, this week and top10 ever in my life, came quite unexpectantly when I jumped into the ocean(for fun) off the rocks at Poipu Beach( 45 ft). The emotional swing I experienced from the barefoot climb up the hot sharp rocks, to the leap itself, to the swim to shore(almost), to the post jump beach crawl and through the recovery phase(a conversation w an angel) was unbelievable.
Upon reflection I , as I suppose most of us, have fears that have both served to protect as well as limit my experience of life. This late morning I was determined to break through a big one. Not having had the opportunity to go to Outwardbound as a kid I climbed onto to the edge of some volcanic rock, looked down the indescribably beautiful coastline (imagine Jurassic Park meets heaven) and listened to the wind singing with joy after hitting land after its 3000 mile journey from California. Jump! That’s it. I guestimate I plunged down through the water approx. 15-18 feet. Upon surfacing my bud Brett suggested a 360degree mini tour underwater before heading on our way to shore. Keeping my eyes open I ducked underwater and felt my small place in the universe.
the best way I can describe it is that Mother earth not only exists she is clearly in charge.
My watchband snapped upon impact and determined to not lose it I cupped in my hand and headed for shore. Not a good idea. Efficiency scores sunk and a few short minutes later me too! Dry land never felt so good!! Thanks to Brett and Tom I was blessed with being very sick for about an hour. Long story short, I’m still around and so is the watch!
Like no other moment in my life was I so close to my mortality. I gained an instant, deep appreciation of the gift of life. Fears I so long held washed away, a purification, a cleansing, I have been blessed with multitudes of abundance throughout my life and everyday is a gift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sept 05’ –May 06’:

Hibernation! The 1st time I gave myself the opportunity to concentrate on my songwriting without the commitment to playing live. I set up my home studio and began writing on piano.

My son gave out 16 CD’s of One Time Around to his kindergarten classmates for Valentines day and told each one of them that “this is my dad; he’s a rockstar. Wow!
I figure if I’m not a rock star at home why go be one somewhere else.

May, 27th, 06’:

Began recording of 3rd CD (title down to 3 possibilities) @ KMA studio’s in the legendary Brill Building, Times Square, NYC. The energy and history in this studio is phenomenal. Down the hall is Paul Simon’s studio! Patrick (Pfeiffer),as always, is in the bass chair. Patrick is also co-producer of the project. Sean Harkness ( Windam Hill Records) is on all sorts of guitars! Mike D’Agostino is behind the kit ( Herbie Hancock,
Stanley Jordan, Yoko Ono).
As if the aforementioned players were’nt enough to perk your interest magic struck the project when Kato Kundwala joined the crew. Kato is a world classengineer/producer with a who’s who list of credits( Breaking Benjamin- currently Billboard top 20, Kool and the Gang, Famous , Red Jump Suit Apparatus).
I believe that the most important key to capturing the essence of an artist is a great atmosphere in the studio. Studio owner Mike Kissel ( Sting, Four Tops, Grace Jones) along with projects manager Stefanie Fink pride themselves on creating just such an atmosphere! God is good.

August 06’
Traveled to Kauai, HI for a week of music @ the Kauai Music Festival. Had the pleasure of meeting several well-known song writers --------( Kenny Rogers, Through the Years), -------------- (Evanescence), Jason Blume( ).
Was invited by local muscians and attended an indescribable (Lu ), spent a sunset at
(Haneli)Bay with Brett Rouse- where puff the magic dragon was written), performed at
The Small Town Coffee Shop, visited and prayed at the (haieau) a sacred ground at the
Intersection of the (Waielua) river and the pacific ocean, stayed up all night discussing
Writing with Woody Garrison and Tom Kilroy, performed on KCCR, and slept the whole plane ride home. I’ll be back next year Kauai!

Sept 06’
Played a gig at a private party in CT around a bonfire! Got the kids mov’in and groovin’
with some impromptu songs and spent a bit of time between songs keeping my guitar tuned. Quite a challenge due to the chill in the air and the warmth of the fire. What a blast! ng Band Journal Entries

Jerimiah Long Band Journal Entries

Hey!

Thanks for checkin up on us and our music.
